Trek to Moose Factory - Febuary 2000
Day 4
We had breakfast at the Cree Village (bacon, ham, eggs, pancakes, etc…mmm grease). Took a quick tour of the island before our trek. We stopped outside the Anglican Church, which was made out of the hulls of the old wooden tall ships.
Previously, the church was washed down stream 18km during an unusually high tide. They have since re-located it back to its original site. They have also drilled holes in the floor so that it will flood instead of being swept away. I’m not sure why they didn’t just move it a bit more in land.
We packed up our gear and headed down the Moose River for a 20-30 km ski to Andrew’s cabin. It was very slow progress hauling all of our gear.
Pics =2 ?
Fatigue set in after many hours, we were barely able to get there. I sometimes question why I do these things at time like this. I collapsed on to the floor of the cabin while Andrew opened up a beer. I tried to have a sip of beer, but I could not drink very much.
I was so fatigued that I could not hold food or drink down…just wanted to sleep. Andrew started a fire and we cooked our supper. Feeling better now, just very tired. I was looking forward to a good sleep. Just think, we get to do this all over again tomorrow.
